Turkana Portraits

The Turkana people live in the arid northwest of Kenya, around the shores of Lake Turkana — the world’s largest permanent desert lake. Their resilience in one of the harshest environments on Earth is extraordinary.

These portraits were made over three weeks in remote settlements accessible only by 4x4 tracks that disappear after every rain.
